This makes sense as AirPlay is a very “Talkative” protocol to get things to sync up properly and only really works well with things like video playback.Įdit: Forgot to mention that I am currently trying to figure out a good way to keep steam link working smoothly while also using my HomePods for audio on the thing. One other thing I have noticed is that if you have HomePods as your speaker (or other AirPlay devices) hooked up to the Apple TV that interferes with the signal as well. Steam Link is also available on Android TV, Apple TV, select Smart TVs and other devices. Ideally, you’d literally try putting the Apple TV near your PC, plugging into the monitor and testing right there to make sure your Apple TV is defective then try it in various other positions closer to the router. The Steam Link app is intended for game streaming over the home network unlike cloud gaming services like Nvidia's GeForce Now and Google Stadia. If you can try moving the device away from signal interference like other game consoles, microwaves, etc… and see if that helps. If that doesn’t fix your issue then it could be that there is too much noisy interference from other devices or even literal walls near/inbetween your router and Apple TV. ![]() ![]() Settings => In-Home Streaming => Advanced Host Options => Prioritize Network Traffic. The setting can be found on your PC Steam application. If you have this setting on and are experiencing intermittent lag spikes then try turning it off (or vice versa if your router plays nice with prioritization and you don’t have it turned on currently). ![]() Is the latency consistent or is it spiking every so often? I had issues where latency would spike, destabilizing the encoder and decoder time for awhile and I fixed it by disabling Prioritize Network Traffic in steam settings as my router was not handling the prioritization correctly.
